The Five Ways of Being
There are five different Ways of Being that have been scientifically
documented in over 30,000 cases by Dr. Eleanor Haspel-Portner,
Ph.D.
(cf. Revised Research Verifies 5 Types in the Human Design
System, by Eleanor Haspel-Portner, Ph.D, Unified Life Sciences,
2001, 2003).
Although it is true that each Way of Being filters perception
and each has its own unique strategy, that's only a portion
of the whole picture when it comes to understanding your
Self.
There are four worlds we operate in at all times:
- Our Waking World is the world in which we live and interact.
- Our Spiritual and Dream World is the world that makes
us all feel connected. It brings the world of spirit and
symbols into our awareness.
- Our Emotional World determines how we react and interact
with others. It is very important to our life purpose.
- Our Physical World regulates our hormones, our internal
clock, our moods, and our physiology and influences hunger
and sexual desire, among other things.
Many people experience themselves differently in these different
worlds. For example, you might be the kind of person in
the outside world who can really make things happen (the
Manifestor) while at the same time, on an emotional level,
you might be highly sensitive to the energy of those around
you (the Reflector). For this reason, for most people, it
is not possible to have one set Type as a guide for living
every aspect of their life. In order to be whole, you have
to get to know and understand your “whole” functioning
self.
We have included a mind map image of the Five Ways of being
to get your started on your journey of self-discovery. Study
it and think about the different worlds in which you function.
Do you think you stay the same always? Do you think you
