Principles

At Simply Your Self™ we strive to benefit those with whom we work and make effort to do no harm. In professional actions, we seek to safeguard the welfare and rights of those with whom we interact professionally. Because our scientific and professional judgments and actions may affect the lives of others, we guard against personal, financial, social, organizational, or political factors that might lead to the misuse of our influence. We strive to be aware of our own physical and mental health and our ability to help those with whom we work.

We establish relationships of trust with the people with whome we work. We recognize sanctity of the trust in our relationships and honor the integrity of the individuals who put that trust in us. We are aware of the professional and scientific responsibilities and uphold professional standards of conduct, clarify professional roles and obligations, accept appropriate responsibility for our conduct, and avoid any and all conflicts of interest that might lead to exploitation of others.

We promote accuracy, honesty, and truthfulness in the science, teaching, and practice of our work. We do not steal, cheat, or engage in fraud, subterfuge, or intentional misrepresentation of fact. We keep our promises and avoid unwise or unclear commitments. We seek fairness and justice for all persons with whom we are involved. We never condone any unjust practices or attitudes.

As Professionals we respect the dignity and worth of all people, and the rights of individuals to privacy, confidentiality, and self-determination. We are aware that special safeguards may be necessary to protect these rights.

Ethical Standards

Because we strive for accuracy and professionalism in our work, if we learn of the misuse or misrepresentation of the work, we take reasonable steps to correct and to minimize its misuse and misrepresentation. We feel an ethical responsibility to obey the laws of the United States, in which we live, and abide by those laws and standards of human integrity.

We provide services, teach, and conduct research in areas within the boundaries of our competence, based on our education, training, supervised experiences, consultation, study, and professional experiences. We use our relationships constructively for all parties involved and never condone any exploitive relationships.

All consultations and information used in consultations remain confidential and measures are taken to assure the confidentiality of the information disclosed. Since we operate in part through web based services, we protect the confidentiality of our email lists, never share our lists with others, and maintain the highest standards of ethics regarding all communication through electronic media.
